In this brief walkthrough, we've shared what is a Facebook cover, so you can strengthen your business or personal page with some eye-catching imagery.
What is a Facebook Cover?
In 2011, Facebook introduced the cover photo feature to profiles and pages. Essentially, Facebook covers are magazine-style images at the top of a page. It's the first thing that people see when they visit your page, so it's important to choose something that makes a strong first impression. Covers cannot infringe on anyone's copyright, and they cannot contain explicit or deceptive material.
How to Add a New Cover Photo
First, go to your Facebook page, and click on the "Update Cover Photo" button, located in the top-left corner of the cover photo. If you don't have a cover photo, the button will read "Add Cover Photo" instead.
Next, you can decide whether to select a photo from your Facebook albums, or upload a new photo from your hard drive. The image file must be 720 pixels wide for Facebook to accept it. We recommend formatting your image so that it's 828 x 315 pixels on desktop, and 640 x 360 pixels on mobile.
When you've found a suitable image, double-click on the file to add it as your cover, and then drag on the image to reposition it. Then, choose "Save Changes".
