In this brief walkthrough, we've shared how to update Adobe AIR, so you always have the latest version of the popular runtime system. Periodically, Adobe releases AIR updates that keep your software bug-free and safe. With the Adobe Reader Updater, it's easy to download new updates.
How to Update Adobe AIR
Once AIR is installed on your computer, you will receive a desktop message when new versions are available. Every two weeks, any applications that use AIR will also check for updates when launched. The prompt will say "Update is ready to install." Click the "Update Now" button to launch the Adobe Reader Updater.
Next, a new dialog box will appear, with details about the software update. Often, updates to AIR and Reader address cybersecurity weaknesses and general glitches, so it's smart to always have the latest version.
When you're ready to download the update, click the "Install" button. While the download is taking place, you'll see a progress bar at the bottom of the window. When the download is complete, you'll be prompted to restart the computer before using AIR again.
Disabling Automatic Updates
On the other hand, if you don't want to receive any update notifications, just download the AIR SettingsManager and turn off automatic updates. We don't recommend this, because you'll have to remember to download AIR updates on a regular basis. If you forget to do this and miss a few significant updates, your software and security might be vulnerable.
