A Shutterstock API Platform License allows developers and creative platforms to make Shutterstock’s creative library and technology available directly in their application to streamline workflow for end users. To date, the Shutterstock API powers native integrations with leading companies such as Google, Facebook, Wix, IBM, and over 8,000 applications.
Please note that the Shutterstock API Platform License does not allow the download of or access to raw Shutterstock asset files. That is, Shutterstock assets delivered in your application must be restricted to use in projects created within your application.
If your end users would like to download a Shutterstock asset separately from the content they created within your application, they need their own Standard or Enhanced Shutterstock license to download the asset from Shutterstock’s main website.
Certain other restrictions may apply. To view complete license information, see our API Terms of Service.
How To Choose the Right License
For developers and startups with an early-stage application, Standard API Plans provide an easy self-serve process to help you test and deploy quickly. Moreover, it supports in-application asset licensing and resell. For more information regarding Standard API Plans or get started for free, please visit the Shutterstock Developer Portal.
For digital applications with an established user base, Business API Plans provide full access to Shutterstock images, video clips, and music tracks. Furthermore, it offers additional business model customization, priority technical and partner growth support, expanded access to Shutterstock advanced search, and Shutterstock Editor integration.
Please note that Business API Plans are the only Shutterstock API plan that supports print-on-demand and custom merchandise use cases. To request a custom Business API Plan, please contact us.
