Redownloading Images

Purchasing an image from Shutterstock is not only simple, it is permanent. Because if you are like most people, you’ll find that there are times when image files fail, get corrupted or simply can’t be found. Many of our Shutterstock customers find that there is peace of mind with knowing that once an image is purchased, it is theirs forever – even if the customer does not have a current active product subscription account.
Over Two Million Images
Shutterstock’s vast collection of over 200 million royalty-free images, video clips and music tracks mean that your chances at finding just the right product are sky-high. With our stunning content and our easy-to-understand purchase plans, it’s easy to see why so many have come to depend on Shutterstock for their image needs.
Ditch the Worries
Many types of content today must be stored, copied, and carefully stored yet again. Individuals use many systems, from multiple hard drives and cloud storage to a reliance on companies that specialize in backing up existing data. Worrying about backing up Shutterstock downloads does not have to be at the top of anyone’s list. This is because we offer the worry-free guarantee.  Once a customer purchases the rights to an image, music track or video clip, they own it. In short, this means that it can be downloaded again for free at any time.

Steps to Redownload
The redownload process is simple for Shutterstock customers, and does not ever mean a customer will be charged a second time for the same image download. By accessing your license history page, you will be able to see your license history (which used to be referred to as your download history.) This is a record of all the files you have purchased and downloaded in the past. In order to redownload an image, video clip or music track, simply click on the download button.
Redownload in Other Sizes
The initial purchase with Shutterstock also entitles an owner to redownload a different size photo later on. In order to do this, simply click on an image thumbnail in your license history and select the size you prefer to download.  It’s just that easy. Our available image sizes include:
  • Small (S) – The small download size works well for most digital use and will download the most quickly.
  • Medium (M) – Customers needing to make small prints and/or purchasing for digital use should download a medium size file.
  • Large (L) – This file size is the original, as provided by the contributor. Those intending to use the photo for large size prints and/or digital use should download this size.
