How do I get an invoice?

Running your own business comes with a lot of freedoms, but there are also plenty of responsibilities. One of the most important things you must do while dealing with outside vendors is get a detailed account of all purchases in the form of invoices. While many people think of this type of paperwork as something that’s given when goods are bought, it’s also important to keep a record of purchased services. When you buy an image or subscription to Shutterstock, you might want to get one of these documents for your records, but they aren’t typically provided. Here are a few workarounds so you have a thorough paper trail for your accounting department.

Keep Track of Receipts

Whenever you make a purchase from Shutterstock, you’ll get a receipt detailing your entire order emailed to you. You could print these receipts out and keep them on file, or simply move them to a separate folder for safe keeping. Depending on your email service, you might even be able to set up a rule that automatically sends everything from a particular sender to a particular place, so you don’t need to be an active participant in the record-keeping process.

Check Your Order History

If you aren’t great at keeping your own records, Shutterstock takes care of it for you. A full accounting of all orders is easily accessible in your purchase history. Once you log in to your account, go to the “my account” tab and select “account details.” From there you can find “purchase history,” which will list every order you’ve made with the company.

Contact Customer Service

While these two methods will suffice for most businesses, there’s another option if you absolutely need to get an invoice before submitting payment. A custom plan can be set up to meet your company’s exact needs, but you’ll need some extra help creating your parameters. Simply contact customer service online or call 866-663-3954 and explain your problem to a member of Shutterstock’s support staff. Plans are available for single users or entire teams.

Get the Content You Need

With so many different ways to keep track of your orders, the only thing left to do is browse Shutterstock’s easily searchable database of content. There’s no reason you should have to go without the artwork you need because your company’s accounting department requires detailed paperwork. No matter if you need audio tracks, video footage or high-quality photography, Shutterstock has millions of royalty-free pieces ready to incorporate into your next project.
