How To Use Stock Content for Small Business

Looking for easy ways to engage your audience and bring the right kind of attention to your small business? Adding visually interesting images to your marketing material is a huge step in the right direction. If you’re like most small business owners, you probably don’t have a huge marketing budget to work around. So, how can you stretch your pennies to get the best impact for the lowest price and effort? One way is by using stock content instead of hiring a team of full-time professional photographers.

Some stock content strategies work better for large businesses than they do for small businesses. If you’re not sure what approach to take for your startup, here are a few suggestions for how to use stock content for small business.

Determine Your Content Needs
If you need immediate and flexible access to multiple images for your ongoing marketing efforts, a month-to-month or annual subscription plan may be a good fit for your business. You’ll not only get a better price for your images, but you’ll also have the option to share images with your team if you purchase one of Shutterstock’s team plans.

If you’re just getting started and don’t have a lot of money to spend on marketing, a small individual pack might make more sense. Instead of making an annual or month-to-month subscription commitment, you can purchase smaller quantities - small image packs that you purchase on-demand and download them within a year of your purchase. You’ll just need to choose the right licensing package for your needs.

Standard License Versus Enhanced License
Shutterstock offers Standard and Enhanced Licenses for stock content. Both options give you indefinite use of a predetermined number of images. Our Standard License is offered as the default for our Team and Professional (single seat) Subscriptions and our Basic image packs.

Our Enhanced License is offered with our image packs and is a great choice if you need images for merchandise or marketing to larger audiences. While the Standard License places some (generous) restrictions on print runs, out-of-home advertising and other forms of advertising, our Enhanced License is unlimited in these areas. If you don’t need a lot of images, we offer small packs of up to 25 images with our Enhanced License program.

Need more usage rights, quantities, or flexibility?
Shutterstock also offers customized corporate plans with room for even more team members, better legal coverage, and more. Contact us if this seems like a good fit for your needs.
