Does Shutterstock collect tax?

Shutterstock is required to collect tax on all sales where applicable.

US Customers

How much tax you pay will vary depending on your billing location. We display the amount of tax to be collected before you complete the purchase. Local tax will display on the purchase confirmation page. No charges will be made until you choose to complete the purchase. Some US customers may be exempt from paying tax, you can learn more here.

Customers outside the US

Tax will be collected based on your country’s rate as determined by the bank identification number associated with the issuing bank of your credit card, in combination with your billing address on file. If you are a business, it is important to always provide your tax ID number so you can be exempt from the Value Added Tax (VAT) or Goods and Services Tax (GST). If you are not a business, you can find more information on your local tax obligations here. If you are tax exempt based on your organization, please contact our support team, we’ll be happy to assist you.
