Standard, Enhanced, Custom, and Multi-User Plans

Standard & Enhanced Licenses

Shutterstock Standard License subscription plans are designed for a single user, and include both the 25-A-Day and the On Demand subscription plans. Standard License terms can be found here.

For our 25-A-Day plans, you can subscribe for one month (30 days), three months (90 days), six months (180 days) or one year (365 days). The full year subscription offers the best deal at a deep discount. You can also add days to your account from our Renewal Page. With our On Demand plans, you can purchase a fixed number of downloads for use any time you want over the course of a year.

If you have a Standard License subscription, you may not reproduce any image more than 250,000 times in the sum total. A good rule of thumb is this: If you intend to reproduce an image or images more than 250,000 times or incorporate an image in merchandise for resale or distribution, including without limitation, clothing, artwork, magnets, posters, mugs and mouse-pads, you will absolutely need an Enhanced License. Enhanced License terms can be found here.

Again, you would need an Enhanced License if you intend to use images for very high viewership (over 250,000 views or copies) or for certain commercial uses outlined in the terms of service. As with the Standard License, Enhanced License subscription plans are designed for a single user and like the On Demand plans, can be purchased with a fixed number of downloads that can be used any time over the course of a year. Again, what these two license types have in common is that they are designed for a single user, or “seat.” This means that the user may not share his username or password with others, as this is a violation of our Terms of Service.

Multi-User & Custom Subscriptions

Shutterstock also offers Multi-User Subscription plans for companies and organizations that require multiple people to be allowed access to the Shutterstock library through one account. These accounts are created on a case-by-case basis, as some companies may need as few as two users, while some may need dozens. Also factored into the equation is the estimated number of downloads needed, which begin at 250 and may go up to 50,000. If high viewership/distribution or commercial usage is intended, an Enhanced License version of the Multi-User Subscription is also available, and the required minimum number of downloads begins at 26.

Similar to the On Demand plans, with Multi-User and Custom plans, you may purchase a set number of downloads that can be downloaded any time over the course of a year. For example, if you purchased a Multi-user Subscription with 1,000 allotted downloads, you could download them all in a day if you wished, or space them out over 12 months – the choice would be yours. As with all of our subscriptions, you can always purchase more image downloads as you go along. And because all of our images are royalty-free, you may reuse them as often as you wish.
