Shutterstock‘s CD Backup Plan
What Is It and Why?

Whether you use your computer for work or play, homework assignments or keeping up to date with friends and relatives, doing taxes or playing EverQuest, good backup habits are essential to anyone who uses a computer with information he or she deems important.
Like any emergency, you don‘t necessarily see it coming, but there are steps you can take to be prepared. Or perhaps you‘re the type who likes to make your work portable. Regardless, Shutterstock offers a CD Backup service to help with such scenarios.
Here‘s how it works:
For an extra monthly fee, we will send you backup CDs containing all of the images you've downloaded for that month. You will receive a CD via U.S postal mail every 30 days, within 10 days of the end of each 30 day period.
You can sign up for this service one of two ways. During check-out, check the “Purchase Backup CDs” option on the “Subscription Details” page. Or, if already a subscriber, go to the “My Account” page then scroll down and click the “Backup CDs” link. There is no extra cost if your backup has to contain more than one CD, and the images contained therein will be the native size of the image you downloaded. Supersized images are not available for this service.
In some extremely rare cases, some images may not be backed up. This only occurs when a submitter opts out of the program; however, this is unlikely since submitters receive a small commission when they choose to opt in. The other case is when a submitter ends their partnership with Shutterstock, thereby claiming all rights to their own images.
Please note, only images that you have downloaded can be backed up, as we do not allow substitutions.
The CD Backup Plan can be a great resource if you‘re ever stuck without internet access but still need your images to get work done, or if you‘re a “work-on-the-go” type. As with anything computer-related, it is always a good idea to have backups. Shutterstock‘s CD Backup program addresses this practical need.
