Introducing the Shutterstock Darkroom: Shape The Future of Shutterstock

Shutterstock is designed to help artists like you make the most of your creative work. We want you to play a big part in shaping new features on our site.

Today we’re launching the Shutterstock Darkroom, a place for you to see contributor features in development. We’ll use the Darkroom to show off new features and make sure we’re on the right track before we deploy them to everyone. Every Darkroom page will have a feedback tab on the left, so you can tell us what you think. Your feedback will help us keep Shutterstock the most rewarding site for stock image contributors.

Our first two new features in the Shutterstock Darkroom are a new Content Editor (which some of you are already testing) and a new Image Gallery Stats page, designed as a better way to monitor your image statistics.

As you use these new tools, please remember a few things: Shutterstock Darkroom features are live and functional, but they are tests and might not work perfectly. Darkroom features have not been optimized for all web browsers, so we recommend using the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome or Safari.

We hope you’ll enjoy this chance to put our newest contributor features through the paces and tell us what you think.

Visit the Shutterstock Darkroom and see what develops!

Can’t experience much from Content Editor but Image Gallery Stats is very nice. :) I like it.

It would be helpful to see the data on images with Zero sales.
Love the info this provides and the recently added capability of seeing where sales were made on the near-real-time map.

Hi,
the Gallery stats is great… just few details missing:
- I want to see images with no sales
- I want to filter images – for example I want to see stats of images submitted between 1. January 2011 and 1. February 2011

And the best functionality for contributors would be displaying the number of purchases within last day/week/month for each photo. So you will know your bestsellers and you will know how much they earned during last day/week/month.

Would those changes be possible?

The gallery stats are nice, but there are a few more things that I would like to see. One is including the images with zero sales and another would be a place you could type in the image id to jump to the page that includes that image. I wouldn’t complain about a raise either. :)

Thanks for the improvements.

I can’t see much difference in functionalities of this dark room from the present beta version we have been using for several moths, except that we have to get used again to a new interface. What we most need is that we should be able to edit an approved image for keywords or title in our gallery, as the forum contributor plrang did for us. It is very practical.

Love the Gallery Stats – however a nice addition here would be to edit the metadata of your image – find this tedious within Shutterstock so far….

I like the gallery stats data, I agree with the idea of a place you could type in the image ID to jump to the page that includes that image.

My gallery stats page is empty, maybe a browser related problem?
I’m waiting for the production version ;-)

Good statistic!
But It would be more useful to see data on images with zero sales.

Great work for Gallery stats.
Perhaps an useful addition here would be
1) combined filtering functions. For example “Sales between dates”.
2) List only images with “0″ sales to improve or just give them for Free.
3) Export the results to a PDF file always is useful.

Congrats for the improvements!

I really like the image stats. At a single glance I could instantly tell some of my previous assumptions about how my image sales related were a bit off. It’s a nice tool for identifying what attributes help an image sell.
