A Look Inside Shutterstock's New HQ in the Empire State Building

Last month, we packed up years of memories and bid farewell to our office in lower Manhattan. But, excited as we were to be moving into a much larger space, we wanted to keep the details of our next destination under wraps until it was ready to present to the world.

Today, after much anticipation and many months of construction, we’re thrilled to unveil our new 85,000 square-foot headquarters in the Empire State Building. For a company that was founded in New York City more than 10 years ago, we’re extremely proud to call such an iconic building our home.

As with every choice we make, this was a decision driven by data. By analyzing the addresses of our 300+ NYC-based employees, we discovered the new location would save our staff an average of 3 minutes of commute time each way. Our team also reviewed 7 months and 50,000 hours worth of meetings to determine the perfect number and size of conference rooms for the new office — with options ranging from 2-person drop-ins to much larger rooms, the new variety allows us to be much more efficient in how we use our space.

Of course, we had some fun too. We called on the collective brainpower of our staff to nominate and vote on the themes of our two game rooms (Alice in Wonderland and 8-Bit), help name our new conference rooms, design a secret library, and even select furniture and food choices. But enough talking — have a look for yourself. We hope these photos convey just how collaborative, inspirational, and exciting it is to work here every day.
