Konrad Bak (contributor name: Conrado) is the kind of artist who takes you on a journey. An over-the-top, fashion-forward fantasy-adventure, to be exact. His decadent and delicious photographs are filled with the glamour, sophistication, and seduction you would expect to find in glossy magazine ads for brands like Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, or Gucci.
This Polish-born photographer and world-traveller has been taking photos for nearly a decade – and his dedication to the craft is apparent in his work. What began as experimental fashion and beauty imagery has evolved into dramatic, edgy, and sometimes slightly irreverent narrative storytelling. One can easily get lost in one of his many gorgeous photos and imagine the fantastic, imaginary world that lies beneath them.
Bak has also become a master of the studio shot. He uses “simple” lighting tools, hair and makeup artists, and a few stunning, leggy models in high-fashion apparel to create provocative masterpieces that are indulgent, sexy and sometimes haunting.
But what you might not know about this talented artist is that he and his wife are often the subjects of his work (see image of the couple, below). Bak has become quite good at relying on his timer to capture a moment between a loving couple on a Paris street, for example. Together they are the epitome of what one might imagine a high-fashion photographer and his model wife would resemble.
