Shutterstock Wants Your Manhattanhenge Photos

Get your cameras ready, New York! The solar phenomenon, Manhattanhenge, is happening tonight at sunset (8:17 PM EST).

Twice a year the sun aligns perfectly with the horizontal streets of Manhattan, creating a seamless sunset against the City’s iconic skyline. We hear the best places to take in the view are from the far east side of the island (14th, 23rd, 34th  and 42nd streets), or from the Waterfront in Brooklyn. If you miss it tonight don’t fret; tomorrow you can see the full sun framed by skyscrapers.

If you’re in the area with a camera or cell phone handy, share your photos with us by tweeting them @Shutterstock with the hashtag #Manhattanhenge, or tag us in your Facebook photos for a chance to be featured on our blog later this week. We’ll also award 2 of our top photographers with a limited-edition Shutterstock branded T-shirt. And, if you’re an approved Shutterstock Contributor, don’t forget to submit your best photos to the collection using the keyword “Manhattanhenge.”
