Search Word Spotlight: Dragon
What is a dragon, anyway? Depending on what corner of the earth you’re from, what you envision as a dragon can vary wildly. A fascinating aspect about these (for the most part) mythological creatures is that they exist in the folklore of so many different cultures.
Quite a few common traits do exist: serpentine body, reptilian appearance, bird-like talons, and possibly, wings.
Then there is the quite real Komodo Dragon, which we would be remiss to not acknowledge, since this dominant predator can grow up to 10 feet (three meters) long and 330 pounds (150 kilograms) – and are poisonous – so we don’t want to make them angry.
We also pair the word dragon with other words, to make dragonfly, dragon fruit, sea dragon, and more – we don’t know why, but they sure sound cool!
One thing is for certain: Shutterstock buyers and browsers love searching for images of dragons, and Shutterstock contributors love providing them. Here are just a few examples – enjoy!
