Founder, Chairman and CEO
Jon founded Shutterstock in 2003 with thousands of his own digital photographs. A serial entrepreneur, he recognized the need for licensable images at an affordable cost and created the first global subscription image marketplace. Since then, Shutterstock has grown into a portfolio of brands serving businesses, marketing agencies and media organizations around the world with all the creative and editorial assets needed. Jon holds an MS in Computer Science from Columbia and a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from Stony Brook.
Chief Financial Officer
Steven Berns is the Chief Financial Officer of Shutterstock, where he will help drive the strategic vision of the company, while leading the company’s financial and legal functions. Steven has nearly 30 years’ experience in global financial management, acquisitions, and business operations, including as Chief Financial Officer at the Tribune Media Company, a television and digital media company, and Revlon, a worldwide cosmetic and beauty products company. Berns is a Certified Public Accountant and received a B.S. from Lehigh University and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York.
Chief of Staff
Tracy Kim is the Chief of Staff and VP of People Strategy and Operations at Shutterstock. Prior to Shutterstock, Tracy served as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and ran Licensing and Strategic Initiatives at Weight Watchers International. Born and raised in St. Louis, Tracy received her BA in Classics from Stanford University and her MBA from Harvard University.
Chief Product Officer
As Shutterstock's first Chief Product Officer, Catherine is responsible for leading the Company's overall product strategy and innovation roadmap. Catherine has expertise in creating global subscription products that delight customers and are easy to use regardless of platform or device. Most recently, Catherine was the Chief Product Officer at Weight Watchers, where she oversaw product, user-interface and design, as well as content and consumer analytics teams. Ms. Ulrich graduated from Harvard College with a BA in Engineering Sciences.
SVP, Investor Relations
Craig Felenstein joined Shutterstock in March 2015 to lead investor relations, as well as play a pivotal role in guiding financial operations as a senior executive on the finance team. He joins Shutterstock from Discovery Communications, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President of Investor Relations and CFO of Digital. Earlier in his career, he served for eight years as Vice President of Investor Relations at News Corporation, as well as in financial and accounting roles at Viacom and Arthur Anderson. Mr. Felenstein holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
SVP, Enterprise Sales and Account Management
Nick joined Shutterstock in 2011 as VP of Sales and Account Management. In his current role as SVP of Enterprise Sales and Account Management, Nick leads Shutterstock’s global enterprise sales, customer service, and account management teams. Prior to joining Shutterstock, Nick was SVP of Sales at UGO Entertainment and Regional Sales Director at Vivendi Universal Entertainment. Nick graduated from Elon University in North Carolina with a degree in Corporate Communications.
VP/GM, New Business
Ben Pfeifer joined Shutterstock in 2011 to lead the Shutterstock Footage and Bigstock teams. In his current role as VP of New Business, Ben has a particular focus on business strategy, operations and financial performance of developing and emerging business units within Shutterstock. Prior to joining Shutterstock, Ben worked in Hong Kong and Bangkok as an investment banker and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Ben received his MBA from INSEAD in France.
Co-Founder & CEO, WebDAM
As CEO at WebDAM, Jody leads company strategy and product vision. She is an engineer at heart, having spent her career in software development and Bioinformatics at Celera Genomics, Applied Biosystems and Genentech. She has published more than 20 scientific articles and abstracts, co-authored the book ”Biological Database Modeling” and holds a patent in this area of research. Jody earned a B.S. in Molecular Genetics from Ohio State University and went on to complete a M.S. in Computer Science at San Francisco State University.
VP, Content Operations
Paul Brennan joined Shutterstock in 2013 as VP of Content Operations, scaling international teams and content management systems to achieve new levels of operational excellence. Prior to Shutterstock, Paul was a Senior Director of Content Operations at ProQuest and Gracenote (Sony). Paul began his career in the music industry as Operations Manager at HMV. Paul has a BE in Electrical Engineering from Dublin Institute of Technology.
VP, General Counsel and Secretary
As Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Laurie leads an accomplished legal team that supports Shutterstock’s global operations. Prior to joining the company in January 2015, Laurie was Vice President and Senior Counsel, Corporate Affairs for ACE Group, one of the world’s largest multiline property and casualty insurers and served nearly seven years as the Deputy General Counsel at EnerNOC, Inc., a provider of energy intelligence software. In addition to her time as in-house counsel, Harrison practiced general corporate and securities law for seven years at WilmerHale in Boston. Laurie has a JD from Northeastern University School of Law and a B.A. from Georgetown University.
VP, Marketing APAC & EMEA
Gerd Mittmann joined Shutterstock in 2011 where he led the company's International efforts, from product localization to content sourcing, marketing, sales and staffing. He is currently VP of Marketing for APAC and EMEA, focusing on marketing efforts to Shutterstock customers and contributors in those regions. Gerd previously worked as VP of International at WeightWatchers.com where he was responsible for their International subscription businesses in EMEA and APAC. He started his career in publishing, where he held various positions at IDG Communications in Germany. Gerd has a BA in English and Geography from the University of Augsburg in Germany.
